1 parish register. John Townson may have been either the individual of this name baptised at Caton, Lancashire, on the 3rd May 1601, son of Christopher Townson, or the John Towenson son of Jo: and Jenet Croskell baptised at Cockerham on the 10th December 1595. Most Ancestry trees confidently accept the Caton baptism, but given that it appears that Henry Townson, John's eldest child, was buried at Cockerham the Cockerham baptism seems to me at least as likely. Lancaster Archives have a 1642 nuncupative will for John Townson of Littledall, Caton, which may be relevant.

Suggestions for further research

The next step for the Robinson line is to locate the birth/baptism and parentage of [K21] Francis Robinson.

For the Townson line it's the birth/baptism/parentage and death/burial of [K25] John Townson. This will be more difficult, as there are already two possibilities, and could be others.
