Emma Bowron: (1849–1853), was a daughter of John and Eliza Bowron, and was born at Sunderland. For some years after leaving school she lived with her brother at Middlesbrough; then and throughout her life displaying great interest in Friends' Foreign Missions. In 1890 she took up the position of Superintendent of Drapers at Margate, and in the words of one who knew her intimately "she had the none too easy task of enduring patiently the fads, fancies and weaknesses of a number of old ladies; and her tact, patience, cheerfulness and commonsense brightened many lives during the period of her superintendency. It was a real pleasure to work with her in this interesting old Charity." As a first cousin of Mr. Andrews, she often visited Ackworth, and was a great favourite with many of the staff who knew her well, as she entered fully into everything that was taking place. She left Margate in 1911 and settled at Torquay, where she had a further period of usefulness, especially in social work. She died on October 9, 1922, aged 84.
