Damages Against the Cyclist AT Sunderland last week an action was brought against a cyclist, S. Pattison, for £40 damages, owing to his alleged negligent riding, by which a young lady, Miss Barbara Ferry, was knocked down and suffered a fracture to the base of the skull. As a result of the accident Miss Ferry, who was a school teacher, was unable to read up for an examination, and by the time of her recovery she had reached the age limit, which prevented her going up for the examination. Judge Meynell found for the full amount claimed, and also for £8 7s. 8d. for out of pocket nursing expenses. |
