Degree triumph for a mother of 11 Western Daily Press Reporter Mother of 11, Mrs Margaret Beauvoisin, will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Open University on Saturday. Mrs Beauvoisin, aged 47, a part-time teacher from Portsmouth, will be presented with her degree by Lord Gardiner, the University Chancellor, in a London graduation ceremony. With her will be her husband Oswald, who has had to retire prematurely from his postman’s job on health grounds. ‘Determined’ Mrs. Beauvoisin teaches at Oaklands Comprehensive School, Portsmouth. Mr. Beauvoisin yesterday said of his wife's achievement: “It’s been difficult for her at times. But she has been very determined about it.” Five people will be receiving honorary degrees during the ceremony. They include Lord Butler of Saffron Walden and Lady Plowden. [ . . . ] |
