City doctor's £35,000 Dr. Helen Mary Gurney, aged 79, of The White House, Granger Park Road, Newcastle, left £36,011 (£35,491 net, duty paid £8,931). Miss Gurney was a well-known Newcastle physician. She qualified in 1908 and devoted many years to child welfare. She was a vice-president of the Northumberland and Tyneside Council of Social Service, honorary medical registrar at Newcastle Infirmary and, on her retirement in 1934, was made an honorary life governor of the infirmary. |
