Have you seen this clock? It was stolen from me in 2004, in a burglary. It is a family heirloom, and I would dearly love to see it returned.
It was a silver wedding present* to my great-grandparents, Robert and Elizabeth Spence Watson, in 1888, from "a number of political friends and admirers", as recorded in the inscription.
Please email me if you any information as to its present whereabouts.
*The presentation was reported in the Shields Daily News of 17 July 1888: the couple were given "a clock with side ornaments, two silver fruit dishes, and other articles."
