OBITUARY.The death occurred at Swiftsden Cottage on Saturday of Mr. Willoughby Chamberlain, aged 46 years. Mr. Chamberlain was born at Warsop, and joined the Navy, in which he also has one son serving overseas. In civil life, Mr. Chamberlain worked as a carpenter with Messrs. Ellis, of Etchingham, and later with Mr. C. Farley, of Hurst Green. He leaves a widow, three sons and two daughters to mourn their loss. |

THE LATE MR. W. CHAMBERLAIN The funeral took place at the Holy Trinity Church on Wednesday week of Mr. Willoughby Chamberlain, whose death at the age of 46 was reported in our last issue. Mr. Chamberlain had served in the Navy for more than twenty years, including the Great War, and had received several decorations. The service was conducted by the Rev. C.J. Kahn, the coffin being borne to the church on a lorry belonging to Mr. C. Farley, by whom the deceased was employed. Four of his workmates, Messrs. A. Russell, J. Jenner, W. J. Penfold and J. Jones, acted as bearers. The mourners included the widow, Mr. Harold Chamberlain and the Misses Edith and Dorothy Chamberlain, Miss Lucy Sawyer, Mrs. Buss, Mrs. Jenner, Mr. James Ward and thirteen other of Mr. Farley's employees, Major Montgomery, Messrs. W. Cross, T. Falshaw and W. Oliver (representing the British Legion), Mrs. C. Farley, Mrs. R. Jenner, Mr. R. Sherwood, Miss G. Sherwood and Mrs. Marsden. The floral tributes were sent from His Wife and Children; His Son John and Lucy; Mr. C. Farley and his Employees; Hurst Green Branch British Legion; Some Chums at Swiftsden; Mr. and Mrs. F. Kemp; Mrs. Langridge and Morgan; Mrs Sherwood and family (Swiftsden), Elsie and Joe; Mrs. Willett and family (Cross Keys Inn); A Friend. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. G. Sherwood, of Hurst Green.
