THE WILL of John Thistlethwaite of Harborgill in Kirthwaite in Dent yeoman. WILL dated 26th May 1684

To my nephew John Thistlethwaite younger son of my brother Richard Thistlethwaite of Harbourgill my whole Feefarme Messuage & Tenement at Leayeate in Kirthwaite in Dent for ever.

To my brother-in-law James Whaley's four children the sum of one hundred pounds, that is to say to Francis Whaley £20, to William Whaley my godson £40, to Thomas Whaley £20 and to Alice Whaley £20. To be put forward for the children until they come to the full age of 20 years.

To my brother Anthony Thistlethwaite £4.

To John Baynes £4.

To Margaret Mason 5 shillings.

To Mellory Mason 5 shillings.

To Ralph Sidgwick of Hackergill 5 shillings.

To Anne daughter of William Burton 5 shillings.

To Dorothy Stainebank 5 shillings.

To Margaret Thistlethwaite my sister-in-law £10.

To my niece Isabel Thistlethwaite daughter of my brother Richard Thistlethwaite £10.

I appoint my natural brother Richard Thistlethwaite, my brother-in-law James Whaley and my cozen Myles Thistlethwaite Feoffees in Trust - £10 to each of them.

I appoint my brother Richard Thistlethwaite sole executor.

MEMORANDUM that John Thistlethwaite a little before his death did declare words to the effect (willing the same to be added as a Codicil to his last Will & Testament) vizt - It is my will and mind that so many of my debtors as shall pay in the money (due to me) to my Executor when the same shall become due shall have the last yeare's interest (of their respective sums they are owing me) abated, he desiring Notice to be given (by open proclamation) to his Debtors at Martinmas next after his decease Likewise he did give and bequeath unto George Sidgewick the sum of 5 shillings. He did declare words to this effect in the presence of Myles Thistlethwaite, Richard Thistlethwaite, James Thistlethwaite.

THE WILL OF Anthony Thistlethwaite of Nelsgarth in Kirthwaite in Dent yeoman. WILL dated 8th January 1693.

To be buried in the parish Churchyard of Dent.

My brother-in-law James Whalley of Snaisholm in the parish of Aysgarth yeoman and Samuel Winn of the aforesaid Nelsgarth in Kirthwaite in Dent yeoman are to administer two trusts as follows: £20 to be put out at interest and the principal and interest to be paid to my niece Isabel Thistlethwaite, daughter of my late deceased brother Richard, when she attains the age of 21 years. £20 [same arrangements] for her sister my niece Anne Thistlethwaite. To Francis Whalley, William Whalley, Thomas Whalley and Alice Whalley, the four children of said my brother in law James Whalley £20 apiece, to be paid out within 18 months after my decease.

To Elizabeth Farrer £5. To the said Samuel Winn £10.

R & R in trust to the said James Whalley and Samuel Winn for the sole use of my two nephews William Thistlethwaite and John Thistlethwaite, natural and lawful children of my late deceased brother Richard Thistlethwaite.
