Raby 27. vii. 1726 where as we doe understand that Sarah Coats Daughter of Michell and Margaret Coats of Langleyford is Lately Marryed to a man not in proffession with us, now this may signifie that though the said Sarrah Coats did frequent our Meetings yet she not having bene obedient to that Devine principle of Light and Grace which it hath pleased God to afford unto man and woman during the day of their vissitation nor to the advice of her tender Parents, friends and Relations, but have to the Contrary to theire greate grefe and sorrow let out her affections to be over Come wherefore as we Cannot but Declare our Disunity with such actions and that they who go out are not be Accounted of as untill by unsigned Repentance they Draw neeare unto the Lord whome they have offended, unto which State that she and all mankinde may attaine is our Earnest Desire.

Att our Mo: Meeting at Raby this 5th of 6 Mo: 1735 Edward Pease and Elizabeth Coats daughter of Michaell Coats has this day laid their Intentions of takeing each other in Marriage before this meeting and he having brought a Certificate of his parents consent and likewise her parents being hear has given in like manner their consent, they are desired to attend our next Mo: Meeting and he is desired to bring a Certificate of his Clearness from being concerned upon this account. Ralph Dixon, William Kay, and George Dixon are desired to make enquiry of his clearness and return an account to our next Mo: Meeting.

At our Mo: Meeting this 2nd of 7th Mo: 1735, Edward Pease and Elizabeth Coats has again laid their intentions of takeing each other in Marriage before us and he having brought a Certificate from Stockton Mo: Meeting of his being clear on yt account, as also nothing appearing hear but that she is Clear, they are left to their liberty to accomplish the same according to that order practised amongst friends. Henry Coats and Joseph Taylor is desired to attend the consummation thereof to see yt it be orderly.

a paper was Read here and desired to be Recorded against John Trotter and Mary Coats being Nigh Relations, married by a priest (viz) "John Trotter and Mary Coats from an Education amongst us the People called Quakers was Reputed members of our Society, but through unwatchfulness They not minding the principle of Grace in their minds Contrary to the Rules of our Society to Marry (being Nigh Relations), by a priest; we therefor (as is usual with us in such cases) give forth this Testimony of our dislike to the same and disunity with them untill they may through divine assistance come to true Repentance and Acknowledge the same which we Sincerely desire for them.
