My mind as [sic] been so bowed down in sorrow with the death of my dear and only Son he being the only comfort of my life So that I could not soon raise my spirits to write anything relating to him I think I may say that he has been of an unblamable conduct from his youth like his sisters [sc. sister's] their example has often done me good and caused me to be thankful to the Lord that I had such children. The loss of him has been of a sorrowful effect to many of Friends and such as Traded with him. D.B. |

She bore her illness with admirable patience which was a decline. She was religiously inclined from her Youth much might be said in commendation of her [ . . . ] My sorrow for the loss of my dear and only own Daughter and all her Children is exceedingly great to me and my Son in Law. |
