Thomas Baggs was always recorded as an agricultural labourer, which meant that he probably worked on farms during the spring and summer, or otherwise helped with thatching cottages and hayricks, and possibly in the woods during the autumn and winter. As it appears that he was living in one of the cottages that belonged to Hannington Farm immediately to the south of the church, then it was highly likely that he often worked on that farm.
